CB77 Connecting Rods
I had to cut the cylinder jug in half to get the crank to turn (2 months of soaking the cylinders did not work) I cut a slit in the side of the sleeve and still had to hammer the pistons out. Anyway, I thought about cutting the rods first, and started on one of them (why did I do that!?!) So I need a rod. I saw one on ebay with the crank. It's off a 1964 hm481, does anyone know if the rods will work on a my '66? Also, the dynamo on the crank for my '66 CB77 says CB72, are these engines similar?
Replacing a rod
Replacing a rod is a pretty major operation. There are no splines where the counterweights fit to the round shaft for the big end. The counterweights must be perfectly lined up when the crank is pressed back together.
Before you try it, you may want to talk to someone who has done it to get a good idea of what it will take to get everything lined up again.
Your parts manual will tell you what rod you need.

Re: CB77 rods
I can rebuild or reassemble your crank. But it's not cheap.

Is there a website that may have the crank/engine id info?
