CL77 smokes after rebuild
CL77 smokes after rebuild
I just finished a rebuild on my cl77 with .5 over pistons and new rings with a re-bore and honing. Engine started smoking (white out the exhaust) after warm up mainly from the right jug. I pulled a compression test after about a 30 minute engine run and the right cylinder was at 90 psi and the left at 120. I did the old oil in the cylinder test and both sides came up to 150. I feel I did everything right and measured and corrected the ring gap according to the instructions. Also positioning the ring gaps the right way and with the right side up. Am I not waiting long enough for the rings to seat? What else could be wrong. Need help...Thanks.

Seems you did it right but need to let the rings seat. If your carbs are adjusted for running, drive it for a few miles and don't hold a constant RPM for long periods. You should be just fine. Rusty
