Only the one lowball offer so far. Took it for a forty mile ride today, the more I ride it
the better it becomes. More acceleration and responce much better. Who knew 50mph
could be so much fun.

Piston Blowby?
Piston blowby
I have the same problem on my 1966 CL77. When I remove the dipstick i get lots of smoke and pressure escaping from the engine. What to do???
You may have stuck or broken piston rings. Sometimes the arrangement of breather gaskets and plates under the cam cover are reversed and this can cause pressure build up.
Does it improve as the engine warms up?
Sounds like you may need to strip the top end of the motor to check it over.
Send some pictures when you get it apart.
