I think I might have lost an old friend today because I busted his chops about his leaky crapmobile dripping on my clean driveway. I figured if anyone could take a good ballbusting, he could. I guess I was wrong. He left in a huff like a woman losing an argument.
I admit, I'm really anal about my blacktop and spend a lot money fixing leaks (I can't fix) so I don't have a driveway that looks like a used car lot. He is Felix Unger in the house, but his vehicles are a necessary evil and he has no understanding of the phrase "preventative maintenance". I fix all his crap and he watches my house when we are gone.
So now his shorts are in a bunch because I chewed him out of his leakmobile. His loss, not mine. Life is too short to dance with ugly women.
LM, you are a crusty SOB for sure. But it sure does not bother me. I've just met you and you've been a great deal of help. I can deal with crusty. I'm married to a Sicilian. I can deal with pretty much anything. The few things I can't, she takes care of.
It's Friday. Gotta open another bottle of wine.

wow, i would have never thought that what i perceived as someone being very impolite to me on an internet forum would cause such a stir... took a long time to read all the responses and sift through to find some good answers. i'd like to thank those of you who did supply knowledge to help straighten me out and find the answer i sought. i appreciate the time you guys took to help someone asking for help.
scared me off? lick my wounds? i don't quite get why you fellas would think sillyness like that. after all, we're all faceless noones in this cyber world. my wife (of 26 years, btw) and I don't have a steady internet connection out here in the sticks where we recently moved. so most of my time is spent in the garage or the den, not on the computer. when our connection is up, however, the wife is usually using it.
i completely understand the idea of gear mesh. i should have explained better. i wanted to remove just the rest of the actual screen, not the whole component. the copper screen i have is all busted and i found parts of it wrapped around my oil pump. you see, there is virtually nothing left of the screen as it is. it's been running that way for probably 15 years now (since i've owned it). the bike has 43,000 miles on it. i have no idea where to find one in good shape, and i'm not much of a 'bayer.
i also am not foreign to internet forums. and you can usually tell right away who the ones are that spend 10 hours a day on the forum, respond to every question, and gaffe at questions via their often snide responses. i don't stand for that in person, and i also will not stand for it on a forum. you all know what we were told about making assumptions as kids - it makes an "ass out of u and me."
and yes, maybe god should have put screens in the veins! and yes, tonsils can play a part. but i have 90 year old aunts/uncles that have no tonsils and will outlive us all. and i have a 68 dream engine that will probably outlive us all too, and with a busted screen to boot! and this particular scenario is completely different from leaving parts of a carburetor out. that is ridiculous. but as a kid, we've all done ignorant things. so who is anyone to judge?

So ya didn't get the pic and replied with a Tonsils parody.
