Very interesting! I have a circular mark on the case which must have been caused by the clutch centre. I will have look on assembly and eliminate that as well.
My other issue is a persistent oil leak from the cover. Very unlike a Honda! I have had a go at fixing it before and failed. I plan to check the flatness of the cover. If that is ok, I may consider using 2 gaskets to see if that will fix it.

Yes, I too have had oil leaks from the case in the past, a double gasket will probably work but I face the covers and the cases on a large 35mm piece of flat ally with double sided sticky tape and then 80 grit paper stuck onto it. This sounds a bit harsh but works well and I have not had one leak since I started doing it like this. You can use a piece of plate glass and grinding paste to face them, make sure you clean everything as you wouldn't want grit in the oilway. I hope this helps.

I had a clicking from that case when the clutch was pulled in, it was the clutch center touching the cover were the oil feed is.

I had the same problem when I first got my CA. Found that the previous owner had installed the clutch pack with one thick fiber plate in a pack of the thin ones.

Thanks OldStan, I have had a look at my clutch pack and indeed it does have 3 steel plates at approx 1.57mm thick and three at 1.95mm. So I think this is the cause of the rub as the friction plates, 6 off, are around 2.92mm as expected.
