Compression

Post by e3steve » Tue Apr 15, 2008 2:40 am

Guys,

I don't have access to compression testing equipment (yet) so I can't tell if CB's low on the squeeze factor, but, upon removing the dynamo stator for "tidying up" and whilst tracing my oil leak, I found that I am able to turn the motor through full cycles, by hand and quite easily, using the rotor. Is that normal? It's just that I was expecting a bit more resistance. I had cause to bump-start the bike during The Big Adventure across Spain - the kickstart is shagged and the battery passed away peacefully during the ride - and the wheel would lock when using 1st, or even 2nd gear, if I didn't leap onto the seat at the 'critical moment', so I think compression isn't that bad.

Any comments before I rush out and invest in a comp tester?
