First time run

Post by Waveblaster » Wed Feb 12, 2014 3:47 am

HI

I have just rebuilt the engine in my 64 C77 and wanted to ensure that the engine is receiving sufficient oil flow to the cylinder head etc. What do people recommend in this instance? I was considering removing an exhaust valve inspection plug and cranking without plugs until the oil appears?

Any tips for running in? Was going to set up a fan and run for a while in the garage (assuming it starts after reassemble)

regards

Greg

I loosen the 2 fwd outboard acorn nuts on the head and crank the engine without the plugs in until I see oil seeping out from one or the other. After I've confirmed it's pumping oil put the plugs in and fire it off.
