Crankcase assembly
Crankcase assembly
Is it necessary to have the starter clutch in the big seal on the crankshaft end when assembling the crankcase halves, or is just making the seal square to the cases, with the tab located, good enough?

I install them dry on the outer contact area and with oil/white grease on the inner contact area. ...................lm

I have done this on different engines and I usually leave the outside perimeter of the seals dry so they don't squirm out of place when bolting it up.
Would that be correct for a CB engine?
