Hi guys, I’ve just bought a pile of bits which will eventually be a usable bike. I figured out what the holes in the plastic side cover are for, they engage with two lugs that protrude from the tool carrier!
Anyway, my next question, when I stripped the engine, apart from the damage done to the mating faces by someone using a chisel, there is a gasket between the mating surfaces but, only in one place about 60mm in length and a whole tube of gasket cement,I can’t find it in the parts list, I’m wondering if the oaf that stripped it previously has damaged the cases so much that a gasket was made to seal the engine. What do you think?

Check for a bodged locating pin, there shouldn't be a gasket there..................D

Cheers for the reply, I’ll take all the studs out and check the cases on a surface plate. It just didn’t make any sense.

Good diagnosis by Stratstone, the bush locating pin was indeed misaligned with the bush when they assembled the engine.
