It's that tiny hidden microprocessor the manufacturer puts in there that triggers the battery to go tits up soon after the warranty expires!

Glad you solved the problem. My Yama Vision, has an AGM battery, so far it has lasted, just past 5 years! I like the no hose, part of it, as well as the thing never needs tending. It out cranks a regular battery too!
