ok so would a 64 cb72 have a lift handle from the factory as well as my 66 cb77?? when did they start putting them on?

The lift handle was, I believe, market-dependent; e.g. it was fitted to US models during '65 and onwards, but not necessarily other Euro, Domestic Jap or Canadian markets. It is a great seat-pan saver!
When fitting, get the height and angle right, as adjustment is quite fine between the handle fouling the shock absorber and the bracket wings the fender. I removed my rear wheel & fender and drilled/tapped a short M6 screw through the rear clamp and into the frame so as to prevent its position shifting under lift-load.
