Cracked Lower Crankcase Repair

Is this crack in the lower crankcase repairable? If yes, how so? Is the repair worth it or would it be better to buy an entire new case for under $100 shipped on ebay? Thanks in advance.

It could probably be repaired but easier just to use a replacement lower case. That way you get to keep your original number.....

G-man. How could it be repaired? Take it to a welder? I've found entire cases for $70-$99. For $70 for a lower it just sounds easier. And yes, getting to keep my number 😁

Yes the part would have to be cleaned and prepared by grinding out the cracks to allow penetration of the weld.

You might need some machining afterwards if there is any distortion or extra weld material.

I would weld it: cheaper, plenty strong and....using mismatched cases is usually not a good idea.

These cases Don't Mismatch.
They interchange perfectly.
This is a HONDA Engine. ..................lm

Very true. Only the plain bearing cases are a matched/machined pair.
