And now for what I have found is correct for this bike
The Frame # indicates that it is a
late 1963 model, which uses the LONG clutch cable.
From the CMS site:
http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-ca77-dream-t ... t/F03.html
22870-271-000 WIRE, CLUTCH. The earliest models did not have the chrome
sleeves coming out of the handlebar lever mounts. CA78s would have long
cables and chromed sleeves. Later on, they rerouted the cables to enter the
kickstarter cover from the top, thus shortening the cables a LOT!

I just happened to have this cable and put it in the bike today it is now exiting in front of the coil.
AND IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM!!!!!
Two years of not such a good clutch now good!!!
The one I had on the bike was even longer part #22870-262-000 this was listed for pre 1964 bikes on E-BAY.
I can tell you that it is not correct.
Thanks all for the help..

Hi,

That makes sense, since I have a C78 from '64. It is the one with the late clutch cover, since I was not able to turn the piece of aluminum 180 degree's. Other than that the position on the cover is different (more forward toward the front wheel).

Thank you for clarifying,
