handlebar grips

I ordered a pair of the Gran Tourismo grips, with the larger size for the trottle side, but I still wasn't able to get it on. I heated it up some, and even poked a hole in the end, to let out some air as it slid, but it didn't want to go more than 1/2 inch or so. I see the replies where you guys have used hair spray or soap to coax it on. Is there any slipping once the grip is in place? That was my only concern. I'm hoping they'll go on, they do go nice with the red...

Hairspray is the old standby trick. No, no slipping once the grip is on. The hairspray dries out, so I wouldn't worry about trying it.

Same with the soap, once it's dried there is no further lubrication and no slip. I think even if I used WD40, based on the degree of stretch required, there would still be no slip.
