I read something about laminar flame too, but the info on turbulent flame fronts was less definitive.

Of course as ethanol percentage increase, so does knock tolerance and that allows for higher compression and earlier ignition with reduced risk of detonation.

Bottom line - build a motor and test it and see what that motor needs in the way of timing is still the only way to go. The rest is so much theory.

Interesting though for those of that enjoy that sort of thing, and probably not so much for everyone else.
