Rotor Removal Question

Model shouldn't really matter. And if I remember correctly my CA77 also had a rotor marked CA72 I believe. The axle really should fit into the rotor and then push on the shaft. I could check later tonite, I have a cb motor sitting on the bench and should have a loose axle around somewhere.

Try the front axle then. it is a smaller thread size. Screw it into the thread as tight as you can,probably use a small bit of leverage, screwdriver through the axle hole then give it a solid bang on the end of the axle and it should pop off the taper. If no luck tighten the thread a bit more and a harder bang should work.
I think all my rotors have CB72 on them and I have CB77s.

Maybe that is why the axle was made with a taper on the threaded end.

I don't get it. I've tried both axles but they don't fit the threads inside the rotor. Rear axle is too big, front is too small. Besides, it looks like the threads are left-handed. Would it be ok if I use a gear puller on it?

Bob I found a cheap puller at a tool supply store where I live. I paid about $20. for it. It works perfectly. The threads aren't left handed or at least they wern't on mine. Here's a picture of the puller. Paul

Hmm. Don't think threads are left hand in the rotor. My rear axle threaded right in. Stick a screwdriver in the hole on the end of the axle, tighten it up, give it a couple whacks, and the rotor is off.

You could use a puller if you have one that fits.
