davomoto wrote:Steve, I have installed 2 of the e-ignitions, one on a CL, and one on a CB. They are definately an improvement over stock, smoother idle, smoother running, and no adjustment of points. That said, I don't use them on my bikes, as I really don't mind doing an occasional adjustment or two, and my bikes strat and run beautifully when tuned with Eds' recipie.

Hi Dave: I'm new to the Honda forum and saw your reference to "Eds' recipie." I'm working on a '65 CB77 that's been sitting for many years and would like to know more about the tuning specifics of this "Eds' recipie" you refer to if possible. Thanks, Ron

The main advantage of EI is reliability and consistency. As Jensen mentioned, the best place IMHO to trigger an EI is the crank but that is not really an option on a stock looking bike.

I raced for years with points before EI was available and they worked just fine. I would not do that again, but for a low mileage street bike I would be happy to leave pints on. The resto I sold last year had stock points and it ran like a top.

The key to a sweet running bike is adjusting everything so it works teh way it was designed to. Ed's list includes carb synch IIRC which is essential.

Rone, go to the 305 home page, click on FAQ, and look for how to make my 305 run the beat? I can't remember exactly, but you'll find it no problem! How's the weather down in Socal? We've been getting a lot of rain in Norcal.

Davo: Thanks for that. I found the info right where you said it would be. So. Cal. is nice today (Thursday), but we've had a lot of rain down here and another storm is expected to arrive tomorrow.
