Rob

Do you have any details of those mufflers?

I bought some replicas (Musket) for my CB 72 and they were not awful, just a little disappointing.

I would pay a sensible price for good quality. There is a guy in Slovakia who makes late model Matchless mufflers and the quality is stunning. All TIG welded, they are just about perfect.

G,

The link to the website is:

http://www.dropbears.com/o/overlander/

No pics of the Dream mufflers there, just some general stuff & a catalogue - it's a basic website for a 1-man operation, Barry Bligh is the owner. He doesn't do paypal or anything, which might be problematic for you guys in the US, but Bill Silver may bring stuff in for you? Ignore the pricing on the website, it's gone up since then.......

The mufflers are fantastic. On the bike, they appear genuine, the only thing you can pick (if you're very fussy) is the seams are not quite as evenly welded, but you'd have to be pretty anal to pick it. if you look at the bracketry (in the area NOT visible once mounted), it's also obvious they're not genuine, but who's going to see it? They're solid stainless, excellent quality & will last forever.

As I said, Bill Silver supplies them to his customers & would vouch for the quality - he also seems to be able to get a better price in the US for them than I can buy them for here! Bill does buy a few of them, though.......

I'll try to get some pics for you.....

Rob.

I saw a pair on eBay a few weeks ago and they looked spectacular. I sorta wish I bid on them myself- as I recall they went for somewhere around $360 US.
I'd never heard of these either; I was unaware that anybody other than the usual suspects (Tim McDowell, Apex) was in the game. These look to be the ones to beat.

Are you sure they were Barry's?

Barry doesn't advertise very well & isn't really interested in websites, etc, to his own detriment I think. But he's been making these a Loooong time. They are very impressive. I havn't seen Tim's, I imagine they would be good, although I don't think they're stainless.....?

Yup- I just went back and checked the 'completed listings" and there they were. I was wrong about the price, though- they got up to $470 US and didn't meet reserve.

Here, copied and pasted from the actual auction listing:

We are looking at a pair of new Mufflers for the Honda dream. They are pressed from stainless steel in Australia by Overlander Equipment http://www.dropbears.com/o/overlander/exhausts.htm. They make a lot of replica exhaust systems.

These Mufflers fit and look like the original stainless steel mufflers that came with the Honda's of the 60's. They slip right over the headers and require no rubber bushing. One difference between these and the original Honda mufflers involves the baffles. The baffling system on these is an integral part of the muffler. These are replicas and not imitations so the materials, weight and performance will be parallel to that of the originals. There won't be any peeling chrome in six months.

What was the listing number? I wonder if it was Bill listing them.....?

I paid $750 Australian, which is very close to US at the moment & am happy with the price, given the quality.....

Well, they're coming from Honolulu, so I'd bet Bill's somewhere in the mix.

Listing # 180552479395 or just search 'CA77 mufflers' and check 'completed listings' in the sidebar on the left.
