Well shucks. I think I might just go with the dunstalls then. At least they have an adjustable tab, are cheaper with the free shipping, and won't take forever to get here from from SE Asia. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Anyone else seen dunstalls on a CA77?

Why not PM Paul Short (4shorts)? He adapted these '50s-Caddy rear fins (arf!)☺!

Seriously, though, he may have some idea as to where one might obtain a pair of OE lookalikes.

dream mufflers

Post by mike1969 » Thu Apr 14, 2011 6:05 am

I had those fishtail mufflers on my Dream for a while. They look pretty good but you would have weld hangers on to them as they are pretty heavy. They don't come with any type of hangers.

How about a pair of 'Goldie' mufflers like Vince has on his SuperHawk? They would look really good on a Dream.

They would look good, but they're about $500 a pair, if that's within your budget.

Oh and they'd be pretty loud too!

Vince

You're absolutely right! Hadn't looked at pricing. A bit more solidly made than those Dunstall replicas, though. I'm sure my brother's C72 had them on in the late '60s.

The only issue I had with the EMGO Dunstall replicas was that they would crack at the facing of the mounting channel bracket. Unfortunately these small bikes of ours vibrate, and after a while the metal will fatigue and crack. Had it happen three times to those Dunstalls. If you could reinforce it somehow in that one spot, they'd be perfectly fine otherwise. Of course, it all depends on how much you ride the bike too!
