exhaust studs

Just measured the stud and it's 40mm long. The part that's exposed outside of the cyclinder head is around 28 though - you're right.

I found some replacement studs on this VW parts site:

Never used a Helicoil - does it just lock the threads in tighter and ensure that it doesn't seize?

I just measured also and it is 40. Not sure where I'm getting 28.

Anyway the one you link to should work fine.

Perfect. I keep reading differing opinions on whether anti-seize, loctite, or nothing at all should be used when installing the new studs. What's your opinion?
