Handlebar question?

Post by 4shorts » Sun Oct 01, 2006 1:24 pm

Hi Everyone. Since I picked up my 65 305 dream I've noticed that some of the Dreams I've seen have a higher looking handle bar than the one on my bike. My bike is a Canadian model and it comes with the factory winkers but if there are a higher handlebar I want a set of them for mine. I love the look of them. The next question is : Where do I find them? Thanks for all the info. Paul

I like your low bars.

Are you looking for something like what I have on mine?

I got mine on ebay.

Hahnda there nice but what I had in mind was one like in the picture below. I seen yours on Ebay and wondered if there would work on mine because they were listed as 7/8" & tapers to 3/4. I measured mine and it's 7/8th all the way with no taper so I decided not to bid on them although they do look good. Do your bars taper like the auction said? Nice looking bike you have there. Here a pic of mine He! He! Paul

I have no idea what the talk is about the taper is in the auction. I bought them and fit them with stock controls with no problems at all. One thing I did have to do is drill a hole for the throttle cable to exit the same as my stock bars. These bars also fit without using longer than stock cables.

I'm not exactly happy with the look of my bars but they are pretty darn comfortable in that position.

They do look good. I would want them just a little lower but that's just personal peferance. Any idea where I could purchase two outer chrome wheels for my wheels? Also looking for the screw on lower bowl for my petcock. thanks, Paul

Ohio Cycle has the rims listed but doesn't have a price on them.

Best bet for a petcock bowl is ebay, swap, or a wanted ad on this site or other 305 sites.

I bought new handlebars for both of my Dreams and they were indeed a little different than the originals. The originals curved at a steeper angle than the replacements. I assume some in not all of the repro handlebars aren't exact replicas of the original.
