new to this forum , but not to my dream
4shorts,
You should think about documenting the rebuild and assembly in the 'ongoing restoration' section. I think a lot of guys would like to see how everything goes together starting from where you are. I realize it is a lot of work to take the pictures etc, but I think in the end having a detailed documentation of your bikes rebuild with before and after pictures for the world to see will add quite a bit of value to it! I know this because there is a website www.alfarestore.com where an Alfa GTV restoration is thoroughly documented - a very fascinating read, especially the rust repairs. The car was sold when the project was finished at the very high end of values because the restoration was so well documented. PM me if you want to discuss it. Thanks! Matt
Also into Alfa Romeo Giuliettas and Giulias! Looking for a Giulia Super.
Ryan I used base coat/ clear coat on my dream and also on the old CT200 that I just completed. The paint I'm using is called "ValuPro" the code is (R63) Rio Red. I found a section of the bike that wasn't faded out and compaired it to the color charts and had it mixed. One quart will be more than enough to do a dream. as a matter of fact you'll have some left over. I just love the color of this. It's a deep rich red. Here's a few pics of the same color used on the CT200. If you have any other question feel free to ask me. You can also check out the restoration section of this site because I'll be posting my bikes restoration as it gets along. Good luck with your project. Paul
BEFORE AFTER
Paul,
That is one great looking bike. Thanks for the info on the paint. I was a little skeptical on painting my Dream red, but after seeing the paint you used, I am most definatly going to paint mine that color. That red is such a deep red and so nice looking. I wish I had the time that others have to work on their bikes. I just need to finish some of the body work, then prime, then paint. I am so anxious to get my Dream back together and ride it for the first time. Ryan
Ryan your more than welcome. I figure that's what this site is all about, sharing ideas. Later on today I'll be posting how I preped mine for paint and although you may not need any pointers I'm sure you'll find it interesing how I did the paint work. As for the time. Well I work 10 hours each day in the shop and do the bike in the evenings. It's tiring but I really enjoy it. Paul
