Another Carb problem on a cb77 (jet size?)

Post by bohalrantipol » Mon Nov 06, 2006 1:57 pm

Hey everyone
I have attemptied as much of the advice as i can on this forum to get my CB77 running without fouling up the plugs. The needle is at its lowest setting, and the jet sizes are 135 and 42. I read elsewhere that they should be 120 or 130? whats going on here or is that only for the Cb72? I dunno, but it fouls plugs within about 15 minutes. adjusted timing, carbs clean as a whistle, keyster kit but with old jets (still 135 as were the keyster jets). Thanks for any advice

Put the clip in the 2nd from the bottom slot in the needle.
Open the air screw 1 1/4 turn.
Follow the info. at FAQ on engine tuning.
Do as it saya and ya should be running good. ..................lm

For what its worth I have had to lower the needle to the second groove from the top before I could get the "brown" plugs.
If you are still fouling on the top groove it might be a move to make sure the needle and seat are not too worn ??

The 135 jets are too large unless you are running with open exhausts and no air filters. I was able to obtain smaller jets by emailing Sirius, the folks who sell the Keyster kits. Go with whatever it says in the factory specs for that model (probably 120 or 130). --Randall

Are you sure your carb slides are in the proper carbs? If you (or previous owner) mistakenly put the left slide in the right carb (and vice versa, obviously) on reassembly, the engine will run rich and no amount of rejetting will help.

These things arent universal? how do you tell? the adjusters are pointing to the correct grove.
