No, no, the angled cutout on the bottom edge of the slide. Each has a pin and groove on the side that need to be lined up before the slide will go into the carb, but there is a left slide and a right slide, if they are reversed, the cutout at the bottom of the slide will be incorrectly facing downstream into the cylinder head. You should be able to see under the cutout to the inside of the opposite side of the slide when you look into the intake(upstream) end of the carb when they are in right. If they are in wrong you will only see the outside of the slide thats facing you, no matter what position the throttle is in.
You will also notice that while each slide has a groove down one side for the locating pin, the opposite side only has a short, ramped slot which the idle speed adjusting screw uses to change the height of the slide when the throttle is at rest. Obviously, this should be facing out towards the side of the bike to meet the adjusting screw. Again, if the slides are reversed, the angled cutout on the bottom edge of the slide will be facing downstream instead of upstream.
