Post by clarkwhite96 » Mon Apr 02, 2007 12:33 am

I am restoring a Honda dream 305, the engine # is CA77E 1010458 and the Fram # is CA78 1010471
can any one help me determine the age of this Dream?

Clark, Welcome to the 305 forum. You are making a common request for information, to this board.( the first thing a newbie asks!) If you read thru some of the posts you may run across that information. Good Luck, Kustommusic

If the number after CA78 has only 6 digits, it is a '60-'64 model. If the first digits are 01 the bike was made in 1960. If the first 2 digits are 11 then it was built in 1961. First digits 21 - 1962, 31 - 1963. There are some 41 bikes that are from 1964, but most of the bikes in the U.S. from '64 start with 10. In 1965, the numbers changed to 7 digits beginning with 10. The year model on many titles is the year the bikes were titled as opposed to when they were actually made. Honda stopped making these bikes in 1967 but there are bikes titled as '68 or '69 models. The wiring harnesses are generally marked with a year as well as rectifiers if your bike has an original rectifier. Marking on the harness are usually only visible if the harness is removed from the frame. Hope that provides some help.
