Ignition Coil Wiring?

Post by carlluvscorinne » Wed Apr 11, 2007 1:35 pm

Hi All,
I have a 1964 CB77 and I am just wondering if anyone can tell me if the green and yellow wires from the condensor go to the positive sides of the coil or the negative sides of the coil. Also anyone know how to test the condensor to see if it is good?
Thanks In Advance, Carl

Carl. To test a condenser you need an analog type ohm meter. Connect the red meter lead to one of the wires on the condenser and touch the black meter lead to the case of the condenser. The needle should sweep up and then return to .5 mfd. or simply just back down. Then repete the test on the other wire of the condenser. It should do the same thing. If either or both leads fail this test ya got a bad one! Steve Greer

Hi Guys,

I really appreciate all the help. The reason I asked about the condensor was I had no spark to the left cylinder, I probed both sides of the coil, right coil hot + and - left coil hot + only. Unplugged bullet connector to left coil - and left coil - became hot. Changed condensor, spark at both cylinders. Thanks again, Carl
