64 Dream, frame number?

Post by Chevee » Wed May 09, 2007 6:56 am

Hi!

Just accuired a free 1964 Dream last night... it'll be a good bit of work, but everything appears to be there. I'm searching for the frame number. My engine stamping is CA77E-105878 and the title I was given says CA78E-105873. My immediate thought was that I needed a new title, since this wasn't the correct one, but then I guessed there may have been a frame stamping?

Anyone help me locate it?

Thanks!

the engine number and frame number being different is normal..in fact if they were the same that would be unusual

look for the frame number on the lower left side , right behind the engine. that is the number used to register it

Great, that's the one place I was hoping it wasn't. :)
Lower left is the side with the most rust. Do I need to be moving the exhaust out of my way?

Thanks!

It is above the exhaust and forward of the swing arm pivot bolt. The number runs vertically.

Thanks guys!
I'll be starting the rebuild soon, so I'll try to get some pictures up. I'm not going to do a stock restoration, but it'll be close...
