Piston Failure

What would cause a piston to be all burned up and damaged in my left cylinder on my CB77? The cylinder itself was also damaged and glazed with aluminium. The right piston and cylinder were fine. It looks as if the left side was not getting oil or something. Any help would be great. I know the next step is to bore the cylinders and install oversized pistons. What would Be a Good size .25-1.00? Thanks, dizcod

In the old days this happened a lot when the engine had a lot of miles and the oil was low/old and was run hard for a long time.
I'd get the pistons that are the next size up that will allow for the new bore. .............lm

I had somthing like this on a '69 CL 350 some years ago. It had leaned out on the left side. It was melt down city ! Steve Greer

Just wanted to say thanks guys for your help. If it's a lean issue, could it be that the cylinder was not getting enough fuel and to much air? Thats a whole can a worms that could be plugged petcock to incorrect float adjust, right. Thanks again. Dizcod

Not a great deal.
Just rebuild both carbs and be safe. .........lm
