Ignition coil suddenly bummed out

Before i had the whole bike rewired, i just had the ignition parts connected to be able to start the engine...it stared right up and ran smoothly.

Here's the thing...after having everything rewired...it wouldn't start!
The wire guy said the Coil bummed out!

Could it be his fault? Or was it just coincidence? Any comments?

Did someone make sure to remove paint from all the mounting holes for ALL the electrical components to make sure they have good ground?

I believe so...it started right up before they tinkered with the rewiring.
