Sorry, but, that's just not true. Neither of my CB77's have a crossover tube. If you look at the parts diagram for the fuel tank, you will notice that there are 2 seperate petcocks shown. One has a fitting for the crossover from the right side, as Brent has, as well as you, I suppose, and the other has no fittings other than the 2 fuel lines, which is what his tank should have on it, and is what I have. A tank with no nipple for a crossover tube on the right.
Honda made many running changes on this bike over the years that it was produced, some are quite visible such as the fork legs and meters, others not so obvious until you start taking a number of them apart. The size of the splines on the 29t 3rd gear comes to mind as I recently found out (thanks Ed!). I have 2 steering stem top bridges that look the same on first examination, but when you look at them carefully you see that they are entirely different castings.
I have a 350 with the crossover setup which lets it run the fuel down evenly on both sides, and it makes much more sense on that bike, seeing as the sides of the tank are so much deeper than the tunnel between them, but it becomes quite a hindrance when removing the tank because you have to disconnect the tube as it runs under the frame, and if you don't completely drain the tank you get fuel all over the place. The CB77 on the other hand I guess they figured they could do without at some point, after all, if you ran down all your reserve on the left, a quick tip to that side and you slosh over your 2nd reserve from the right. The tank sits quite high on it's saddle, so there's not a whole lot of fuel trapped on the right to begin with.
I don't currently have a list on frame numbers that the crossover tank was used on, so I don't know whether or not the tank is correct, or the fuel cock is correct for your bike, Brent, but it doesn't really matter, as long as the fitting is blocked it should still be able to do the job just fine. By the way, exactly how is it blocked off anyway?
