I dropped the motor today and split the case and found what looks like worn forks and the gears that the forks go into are worn too. The forks have a lot of play from side to side and up and done if that makes since. This shift drum seem ok.

No my question is my limited tools for measuring can anyone tell me what the diameter of the slot is on the gears that the forks go into?
I priced the gears today and well they are not cheep so before I replace them I want to be sure my are out of spec.
Oh is it 2nd gear on the mineshaft and 2nd gear on the countershaft that the forks go in to.
Thanks for the help

Come to me direct.
I have all the replacement parts your trans can need.
Not all that expensive either.
I prefer that you send me all the trans parts so I can look at them.
Seldom does the gear slot wear but they do get HOT and get cracks.
The shift drum will wear and you wouldn't know.
Also the shift rollers wear.
I've helped many fellers on the list with a bad trans. .............lm
