newb with questions...

Post by Foose » Fri Aug 17, 2007 12:10 pm

hey everyone

just got my ca77 after two years of, uhh, dreaming about it. bad pun...sorry...right, anyway. i was wondering what type of grease you use for the kickstarter, transmnission, and other grease points on the crankcase, swing arm, brake cable/clutch cable, etc. the clymer manual is a travesty. it literally said "lubrication: (1.) service all lubrication points periodically." and that was all it said. nothing about grade of grease, time intervals, effin' nothing! i also have questions about the oil filter.....there isnt one, right? just some sort of strainer around the oil pump? does this need cleaned, or is it simply the high frequency of oil changes (300 miles???) that keeps things running smoothly? any help you all could give would be greatly apprecciated.

Any good grease can be used and I use the high temp black bearing grease.
I use 30W non det. (napa)
The oil filter is behind that large round cover on the left side that has Honda molded in it.
Good idea to remove the large clutch cover to get to it.
If ya knew how things are inside there ya could remove it through the hole that's there when ya remove the round cover. ...........lm
