oil leak? Around Carbs...

Post by shotzinky » Sat Sep 22, 2007 10:06 pm

Hello everyone,

Well, I have only had my Superhawk for a couple of months now and it is great. However, I still have much to learn maintenance wise. Today I noticed a small pool of oil on top of the right side of the crank case. I touched the bottom of the right carb and it had oil on it. Does anyone know what this might be, because I am clueless to the origin of the leak. Thanks so much for the help/pointers.

shotz, First , welcome to the 305 forum. Your oil could be coming from a couple of places. My first guess would be the breather tube that is attached to the top of the cylinder head. Next, could be the valve adjustment cover, and lastly, and probably, the head sealing gaskets or o-rings. I guess you would need to clean up the oil that is on there now and run the engine so you can see where it may be coming from. Good luck with it and let us know what you find. Kustommusic
