Another fine day for a ride (Sat. Feb. 7). The morning started out a bit chilly (35 degrees), but by the afternoon it was 60F! Hit the backroads north of Baltimore -- the Maryland Dept of Transportation has a map called 'Scenic Byways of Maryland', and charts various routes throughout the state which cover nothing but two lane roads. So we took the 'Horses and Hounds' route that goes through the 'horse country' north of Baltimore. Eventually ended up in Hanover, PA for lunch, and then wound our way from there back home. About 140 mile round trip. Next week is supposed to get up to 70F -- this is insane!

A shot from the side of the road, charting the route. Yes, we still have some snow....

I went on a ride in the hills, the other day. It was not on my Superhawk, but on my Yama 550 Vision.

Hi Vince and Gun. I'm in California, Gun, you picked up on that road sign! Good work! The picture is taken at the intersection of Bear Valley Rd. and Hunters Valley Rd. looking East, it is a very steep climb to the top and then a decline to the small town called Bear Valley. the next picture is about a mile North of Bear Valley, at the look-out over the canyon with the Merced River, just a little after it flows away from the Yosemite Valley. Hwy 49, is called "The Little Dragoon", in this area, it is a 16 mile run from Bear Valley to Coulterville, the next town. I live in Turlock, and this the perfect short loop for an afternoon's ride. A lap is only 110 miles. As you can see I much rather go riding than stay home and rebuild bikes, that need it, like my Super Hawk. Thank's for the reply, Dave

You guys out in CA have such great roads (of course, traffic can be just a tad heavy out there!).

Last April I drove the Ortega Highway in a car from Oceanside to out past Elsinore, and would love to do that road on a bike. Ever done that one? I know that's much further south than where you are....
