Turn a CL77 into a CB77

Post by SkykingC310 » Sat Jan 26, 2008 2:07 pm

Are there any differences between the Scrambler and the Superhawk besides the routing of the exhaust pipes? The reason I'm asking is I want a Superhawk, I like the way they look, but I've found a great deal on a Scrambler. Is it possible to buy the Scrambler and "convert" it to a Superhawk? Can I just take off the high pipes and put on the low ones? I'm totally new to this so I know nothing. Thanks for your help and advice.

Frames/tanks/seats/wheels/battery/starter motor are a couple of things that come to mind. .............lm

Skyking,
The CB (Hawk/Superhawk) and the CL (Scrambler) are two complete different bikes. The only thing the same is the engines and I believe there is some difference in the internals of the carbs. Also, the brakes may be the same depending on the year but the rims are 18 inches vs 19 inches. I may be wrong because its been along time, if I am someone please correct me. CliffC

Holy Crap. I feel stupid. Thanks for letting me know. If I want a Superhawk, then I'll buy a Superhawk.

Scrambler

Skyking:
dont be afraid to get the scrambler if its a good deal. My first bike was a scrambler ( back in 1972) and it was a great ride ( till I wrecked it. ) I rode it all over NW Indiana for most of the spring and summer (till I wrecked it.) Pick it up, and keep your eye out for a CB77 ( but just dont wreck it. I still feel bad about that, even though it turned out to be a lifesaving, educational event.))
