67 CL77 Partial Restore (pictures added)

Post by ~Aron~ » Tue Apr 08, 2008 8:58 am

I am currently in the process of fixing up a 1967 CL77, hopefully I can get some pics to post on here. It was my dad's bike he bought in 1977 it was missing quite a few parts, he rebuilt the engine at that time and it has pretty much sit in a shed ever since. I was interested in it so he passed it on to me. I the tank has already been modified, the knee pads removed and the round honda emblems filled in, I am going to keep it that way just do a better job of it. Bike was missing both fenders, I got a front one off ebay that has been chopped for the 60's "retro bobber" look. I should have a rear one coming now also that is supposed to be stock. Should have a replacement front rim coming (mine was bent) got a new front tire off ebay for $35. Still need to find a tailight and bracket. And headlight mine has the side ways adjustment so they seem to be pretty spendy. Still need to find the side covers for the air cleaners. Gonna go through an rebuild the carbs. Need to clean some rust out of the tank. I do automotive body work so that will be pretty easy. As of now I am planning to paint it a silver similar to the original silver since I already have a car I to paint silver I will probably just order extra paint will be painting it basecoat/clearcoat. I applied for a title since it was lost long ago, I was actually really impressed when I went in and sent in the application they gave me license plates! I though I would surely have to wait until the title buisiness was sorted out. I hope to be riding it this summer. And keep looking for non-essential parts as go on. I am thinking about changing the sprockets since I really don't intend on using it off road anyways. I am looking forwards to getting it road ready.

Aron, welcome to the forum! Sounds like a cool project. There is a parts wanted section on the forum. You may want to post the parts you need, as a lot of us have stashes of extras and left overs.

I finally got around to taking some pictures of how it looks now. I already got my title from the state too.
