Hi
My CB72 has just succumbed to the worn kickstart shaft problem, leaving the kickstart trying to
rotate with the gears and I don't have time to pull the engine and replace it before heading to France on it.
I have 2 questions I'm hoping people can help with:-
1. I'm planning to remove the kickstart gears from the R/H cover and rely on the electric starter
or bump start it ... anyone aware of any problems with this ?
2. Has anyone developed a proper engineering solution to this ? Is there a needle roller that can
be made to fit ( if necessary by a proper machine shop rather than my amateur attempts with a
lathe ) ? I've got an unworn shaft but was saving that for a 305, and presumably it will eventually
do the same thing again.
Any advice/thoughts welcome,
cheers

Re: Worn Kickstart Shaft
don't remove the gears and spring from the rh cover, these are needed to hold the kickstart wratched in its stowed position inside the gearboxPhil-UK wrote:

otherwise the kickstart wratched will wearout rapidly
