Busted Starter clutch????
Busted Starter clutch????
Hey, can anyone tell if I need to replace this? The rotor is the better early version but the clutch attached to the back doesn't look so good... any thoughts... It's frozen like this... shouldn't it move?

Re: Busted Starter clutch????
It looks like the thin plate has moved but that usually happens when the sprocket isn't held in place with the steel stopper on the right side. If it doesn't move that's correct. Are all the springs and other parts in there?. ................lm

There should be 3 springs, 3 caps and 3 rollers inside the part you show. That part isn't supposed to touch the starter sprocket. The rollers contact the starter sprocket when the starter motor turns. ...............lm

How does this thing work?

You have it apart in the pic.
When you look at the middle area you will see 3 locations for those parts. I'd bet they are not there.
Do you have some parts in your work area since you removed the rotor?. ...................lm
