?? when I push starter button the starter turns motor for only a few moments and then seems to let go and I get a nasty sound of skiping teeth. Does anyone know what this could be before I tear it down.

Pull the right side cover and watch. ......................lm

Could also be timing is way off, firing way ahead. Starter clutch is ratcheting.

Thanks guys, I re set the timmig and need gas so I will try tommorow, I have another stupid ?? when setting the points .014 is it set on the lobe and breaker or the contact and plate, and where should the mark on the lobe be pointing.
