carb bowl & silicon

i was excited to hear the carb was 'professionally rebuilt' when picking up my last bike, 1 less thing to worry about. upon inspection, it seems whoever rebuilt it used a thick silicon gasket in place of the bowl gasket. although i have no evidence that i 'need' to remove the bowl at this point, i figure at some point i definately will. anyone have any tips on how to manage this ? i thought maybe a chemical dip in something that will eat/soften the silicon may help, but have no idea what chemical might do this without damaging the carb. thanks in advance!

Carb Cleaner you leave it in for a couple of hours will loosen it.

ya ... that was kinda my thought too ... but i bought the bike thinking it didnt even have a carb, so can't bitch too much. at the point he gave me the carb the deal was done, so he had no reason to lie about it. i guess people have differing notions of what constitutes a 'professional'. thanks again.
