I am entering the final stages of assembling my 1966 CL77 project bike after a refresh on the motor and some paint and shining on the rest. My dilemma is, should I install a Probe Electronic Ignition System or the standard points and condenser. The EI system was in an earlier bike I bought and was fried. Fortunately Probe stood by their product and replaced the box free of charge. I installed the old points system in the bike the EI system was in and thanks to EMO and others it runs great. No matter what system goes into the project bike I am replacing the old selenium rectifier with the Radio Shack wave bridge rectifier. I have read the posts in reference to the spiking and poor charging characteristics of the 305 systems being the main reason the EI systems are no longer being sold. I would be interested in any comments from users of the EI system concerning reliability and how long they have had the systems functioning. I run Boyer IE systems in my old Triumphs and found them to be bullet proof. Yea or Nea guys.
