shift drum

Post by 305 nutt » Tue Jun 17, 2008 9:47 pm

My superhawk has been hanging up between 1st and 2nd gears. I pulled the mill, took bottom pan off and found the shift drum on 2nd gear point is chipped. Has anyone tried taking a dremel and polishing the point smooth? Would this let the transmission want to jump into 2nd gear upon acceleration? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I suppose an nos drum would be like hens teeth? thanks nutt

Nutt, I'd look for a good used one myself. They are generally in good shape. I may have a spare if you're intersted.
