Carb With Stuck Slide

Post by tkekfs » Thu Feb 17, 2005 10:38 am

I am trying to restore a 65 CA77 that has been sitting since 1975. The Carb slide seems to be pretty stuck and so does the float cover on the bottom. Does anyone have any tricks to getting these unstuck or am I better off just looking for a different carb that I can rebuild.

Thanks

I'm thinking your stuck float bowl is just typical stuck to the gasket thing. A little careful prying shuld remove that. The slide will probably come loose with a soaking of WD-40 or some light oil or kerosene, probably some other liquid soaking agent. Give it some time and tap on it gently. You'll need to inspect the slide and bore after it's out to make sure things are smooth, no sanding! If the bore or slide have rust or corrosin you can't wipe away with your finger toss the whole thing away. Good Luck! Steve Greer
