Rear Spokes on Front Wheel?

I guess I should have labeled things better.

I didn't realize that the front and rear spokes were different, or the rims for rims for that matter.

I laced up the front hub to ? rim with the rear spokes. Since I broke one of the front spokes, I thought that I would buy one new set from Apex, and possibly put those on the rear.

What's the difference between the rims, I couldn't find any. They look to be the same exact demensions?

Is there a problem with leaving the rear spokes set up with the front hub?

Bryan, I haven't done any CA wheels, but I know on the CBs, the rear spokes are a larger diameter. I really don't see a problem with leaving front as is, as long as it tensions and trues correctly. I would not get spokes from Apex, or ebay. I have a set that came with a parts bike I purchased, and they are smaller diameter, and chrome. Either Honda dealer, or Buchannon spoke and wheel service. You don't want cheap, brittle spokes on your bike!

I think your right about it being ok to leave the rear spokes on the front. The only difference I can see is that part of them are thicker. But, I am going to redo it anyway because I have decided to keep my original set of front spokes. I just need to pick up one (A) front spoke.

I just broke it yesterday. Kinda funny story. I was using the polishing method I read about on here using a drill to spin the spokes. Well, my drill's battery died so I figured I'd do the same thing with my roto zip. That didn't turned out so good. The roto zip has such a high rpm that at the second I turned it on, the spoke bent right over to about a 60 degree angle. Needless to say I wouldn't recommend this. Apparently faster isn't always better.

I still can't figure out the difference between the front and rear rims (CA77). They look identical, but have different part numbers. Anyone know?

Anyone want to sell a (A) front spoke?

Have you polished the zinc on those spokes?
If so with what. . ..........lm

I think it was you who's post turned me on to this method or maybe 3bean. Thanks.

First I spun em through some pretty fine sand paper, 320 I think. Then polished with Mothers. The rears turned out pretty good, mostly because they were covered in oil for who knows how long, so they were in decent shape to start with. The fronts not quite as good, but decent.

I think I am going to shoot them with some clear, for the partS of the spokes had no finish left.

And remember........No roto zips! BAD, BAD, BAD!

Twasn't me. I always have mine cad plated. I'm afraid you will need to keep a sharp eye on them forever as they can quickly rust. ...............lm
