If it is the one just under the frame that sticks straight out (as opposed to the other one that is closer to the motor and in at an angle), I have tried it everywhere from all the way in to out 3 or 4 turns and there is not much change.

Doesn't that mean it's running too lean? Mine did that. I adjusted the needle jet (put circlip on lowest position) and that seemed to do the trick.

That is covering up the problem, you haven't fixed anything yet! Also for DJbarcy, Have you checked your fuel supply from tank to carb? that could be restricted. But I'm inclined to agree with LM, you dont have a clean carb. Kustommusic

LM, I thought we were not supposed to attach hoses to the brass nips under the bowl?

djbarcy, don't forget the orings on the idle screws.

It was the O ring on the air/fuel mixture screw.
Took her for a ride and the motor is very strong.
Now I just need to stop the usual fuel leak from the gas cap. But, a rag in the pocket takes care of the seepage for now.
Sunday is a memorial ride for a police officer killed on duty down here so I am thrilled that I will be able to participate.
Thanx so much for all your help.
