i looked at the auction , and to be honest i'm following what you are saying. do you mean that the inner ring with the cogs on it that the clutch material is bonded to should be made of aluminum?
if so , what is ones the auction made from? i'm curious because about 20 years ago i bought a NOS 5 disc clutch set from a Honda dealer to have a spares for my CA77 ...i have not needed to install them yet , but i would like to know if they are the correct parts. they are non-magnetic and appear to be made from aluminum . why are the ones on the auction no good and won't last ?
The neoprene is bonded to the aluminum. HONDA issued them in apx. 1966.
You are possibly lucky or an exception to what we/I did back in the 60's and I do today. Those are made of a plastic/phenolic core and cork in the same material and we/I was lucky to get a couple months riding before they would glaze and the clutch would slip. I realize folks ride the same type bikes in different ways but that said I never reinstall those new or old (plastic/phenolic) in my engine/bike rebuilds. Your choice. ..............lm
