new dream, still a little lean

Post by greg78gs750 » Sat May 30, 2009 8:20 am

hi guys,

well, i have been working on my wife's new 67 ca77. dipped and rebuilt the carbs, stock jets and needle, clip in the middle position. float level is 26.5. air screw set at 1 1/8 turns out. new k&n air filter since my air tube is disintegrated. i am running a little lean and was curious if going to a cooler plug, say d8 as opposed to the manual speced d6'si have in now might help color these plugs up a bit. my thnking being that i dont really want to pull the carb off again, haha. which is a little funny, my other bike is a suzuki with 4 carbs. talk about a pain to deal with. anyway, thanks in advance for any replies!

spark plugs will not change the mixture. Mixture is base on carb and air filter. A filter that flow easier can make the mixture a bit more lean vrs a filter that flow less easy as the vaccum is fix pretty much by the engine. So you might throw a bit more oil on the filters, go back to stock or better yet, fix the real reason for running lean.

Just my 2 cents worth.. good luck.. Bill

yeah, i pretty much knew the answer to this one myself, i guess. believe me, i would go back to stock, if the air tube wasnt made of unobtanium. at this point in my dream life, im not willing to spend 100+ bucks on a 2 dollar bit of rubber. ok, thanks for all the responses, i will get her figured out!
