Shout out to Loud Mouse

Post by moto305 » Mon Jul 13, 2009 12:34 pm

I'm new to the forum as a participant although I have visited the site many times. I purchased a 1967 cl77 last year that looked, ran and shifted fine. I thought that it could run and look better so I bought Bill Silver's two guides (305 engine repair and 305 restoration guide). Somewhere shortly after that I had gone backwards with a non-running bike, a lot of frustration and the sinking realization that maybe I had bit off more than I could chew.

Now for the good news. I had heard of Loud Mouse and some of the other experts on the Honda305 forum but didn't know if I could approach anyone for real hands on help with my bike. I want to take the time to tell everyone here and anyone who visits that it is worth a visit to see Loud Mouse. If you live within a day's drive to Kerrville, TX you will meet someone that is generous with his time and will teach you things about your bike that will take you much longer otherwise. Loud Mouse is Ed Moore. Ed and his wife Lori have a beautiful home in the Texas Hill Country. They have a guest house for you while you stay there and Lori will cook your meals while you are there. Unbelievable hospitality and an incredible experience if you have the 2 or 3 days to spare to devote to your CB72/77 or CL72/77.

Well worth the trip just for Ed's stories and Lori's cooking.

I'll get there again sometime, Ed, real life getting in the way right now...not to mention the heat, 106 at Lake Travis today, only 104 on my back porch.

Thanks, Lee

You owe it to yourself if you can make the time. Not only was the food good, I had a blast. Ed has raced motorcycles and racing karts, worked in fiber optics and the aircraft industry. He's forgotten more stuff than most folks know. Ed prefers his whisky straight with no bullshit.

I don't know how many people are out there like me that love the 305s but only have a passing understanding of the mechanics to keep them running, stopping and riding great. It was a treat to find someone like Ed who was willing to share that info and have a good time doing it.

LM, i believe I read somewhere in the posts a long time ago that you go to Mid-Ohio every year. I will be there this year. If you are going to be there, how can I look you up? I'd like to meet you and pass on my respect.
