Keyswitch/ignition '65 CA77

Hi All,

I finally got this bike started for the first time since I got it... however, I found that I had no spark unless the key switch was in one of the two off positions.

This switch has five positions with two where the key can be removed, and it is only in the "off" positions where there is spark.

I checked all of the wires hooked up to the switch and they all match the wiring harness colors. I have power to the lights if I have the switch in the on position that is for engine on + lights on, but no spark.

Is there a relay or something somewhere that may be hooked up reversed? Or is there a common change that someone could have done to make the bike run without a battery that would have made this change? (there was no battery when I got the bike).

I hope some wiring wizard out there knows what is going on...

I am kinda lost on this problem!

Thanks
Rick
