Somewhere last summer the speedo on my 67 rider went crazy and before I could get it disconnected, it self destructed. The needle broke off and bits of metal showed up on the face. Toast!
So once again, off to the parts store in my shop storage bins. A donor speedo should do the trick.
Wrong! Only this time I was armed with a channel lock to disconnect the cable. Only took about a mile at 45mph and it was poltergeist all over again.
This time a post by the G_MAN gave me the nudge in the right direction. He showed how to open one of these things and how so very simple they really are.
Thanks to folks like you guys for sharing your stuff. A simple lube job in there was all it took.
